Founder & 500hr E-RYT
MontezumaYoga was founded by Dagmar Spremberg, a native German in 2001 as one of the first yoga retreat centers in Costa Rica. After leaving Germany in 1996 she moved to Los Angeles, where she began practicing and studying yoga. While living in New York she intensified her studies and trained with Elena Brower and Rod Stryker. Dagmar has been teaching since 2001and organised already over 100 yoga retreats for other teachers and herself. She is a 500 hour certified RYT with the Yoga Alliance and as a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC she compliments yoga with her work as a certified Holistic Health Counselor. Dagmar's yoga videos on YouTube are very popular with over 1 million views. Resident Yoga Teacher
Silvia Eriksson first fell in love with yoga back home in Denmark, and started practicing Hatha Yoga in 2006. At first intimidated and challenged by the Asanas which were difficult for her healing body at the time, what drew her to come back was the sincere and encouraging guidance from her teachers and fellow students. The studio felt like a home and sacred space, her Yoga has since been a blossoming and evolving practice, and it is her wish and priviledge to share it with others.
Silvia studied Alignment based Hatha Flow with Jackie Chiodo after she moved to Costa Rica in 2009, and further deepened her practice with Dagmar Spremberg at Montezuma Yoga, where she is a resident teacher since 2012.
Through authentic and carefully explained yoga sequences, Silvia offers a well rounded practice that suits and includes all levels of practitioners. Each class is designed to offer variations of poses and assistance where needed, so every student can benefit at their own pace and grow stronger balancing strength, stamina and surrender.
Guest Yoga Teacher
Lucy has been practicing Yoga for the past twenty years and teaching for the last six. Her training began in Athens, Greece with NYSY Studios, studying Hatha Yoga, Anusara and Bhakti Flow with teachers such as Vivi Letsou, Rusty Wells, Noah Maze, Todd Tesen, Martin Kirk. She adds to her class her knowledge of twenty five years as a personal trainer, sixteen years as a reiki practitioner and seven years as a breathworker. Spending her summers working in Greece she enjoys Montezuma in high season and has been a guest yoga teacher at MY since January 2012.
Lucy is also known for her very transformative yoga & breath work retreats.
Sandy Riddhi Wu

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Sandy brings a multi faceted approach in her offerings as a 500-hr E-RYT, and a graduate of the Pacific Coast University of Holistic Medicine, and the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
A bodywork session with Sandy can include Acupuncture, Tui-na massage, and Cupping. Acupuncture is a time-tested traditional Chinese medicine, in which hair-thin needles are inserted into the body's surface to conduct energy to its corresponding internal organs. Tui-na massage and Cupping are additional treatment modalities of traditional Chinese medicine, used to promote circulation, remove congested toxins, and nourish the Qi (vitality). Many report a feeling of deep relaxation, followed by a sense of renewal. Sandy combines Ayurvedic Marma Point Therapy and Reflexology to balance and heal ones physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body.
Sandy has travelled extensively to study the healing arts and to share the practice of yoga. By age 21, she completed her first 200-hr yoga teacher training through ashram residency in Rishikesh, India, with Himilayan yoga master, Yogrishi Vishvektu. Sandy continues to pursue her interest of study, and she has acquired over 1000 hrs of training in the styles of Vinyasa Flow & Restorative yoga with Rachel Hull, Ashtanga Vinyasa with M.V. Sri Chidananda, Aerial with Kelly & Ted Stiglich, Kundalini with KRI Rebecca Pflaum, Hot yoga with Kristin Campbell, and Yin yoga with Bernie Clarke. Sandy has hosted retreats throughout Nicaragua and Peru, and she has co-assisted teacher trainings in Bali.

Gaudan is a well known artist and muralist who has been living in Costa Rica for over 20 years. Besides his love for nature and creation he fell in love with the Hang instrument and enjoys playing it not only in Dagmar’s yoga classes and retreats, but also for “The Gaudan Project”, where he cooperates with other musicians and performance artists.

Mauricio Saborio Sanchez is a native Costa Rican originally from Puntarenas, where he started to surf when he was 17 years old. As the first surfer in this area of Montezuma he has a good eye for safety of his students. His own surf school is known as High Tide Surf School and works for us more than 10 years. Mauricio is the first person to have taught surfing in the known Playa Grande here in Montezuma, where waves are the best for beginner and intermediate surfers, and with more than 20 years of experience he is very trustworthy. Classes with Mauricio are guaranteed professional quality instruction in both English and Spanish. He is certified in First Aid and CPR.
